Elidel Cream is used to treat mild to moderate atopic dermatitis, a form of eczema. It should be used only for a short time. It is not for continuous long-term use. Elidel is for use on the skin only. You can use it on all affected areas of your skin, including your face and neck. Elidel is for adults and children age 2 years and older.

How Taken: Wash your hands before using Elidel Cream. Make sure your skin is dry before applying Elidel Cream. Put a thin layer of Elidel Cream on the affected skin twice a day, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. Rub in completely. Use the minimum amount of Elidel Cream necessary and apply only to the affected skin areas.Wash your hands after applying Elidel Cream unless you are treating your hands.Do not use Elidel Cream under a bandage or wrap that keeps out air.
Stop using Elidel Cream once your symptoms go away.Minimize or avoid exposure to natural or artificial sunlight (tanning beds or UVA/B treatment) while using Elidel Cream, even while Elidel Cream is not on your skin.
Warnings Precautions: Do not use Elidel if your child with atopic dermatitis is younger than 2 years; if you have been told you have an immune system problem; if you have any infection on your skin including chicken pox or herpes; if you have Netherton’s Syndrome. This is a rare inherited condition where the skin is red, itchy, and covered with large coarse scales; if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless directed by your doctor; if you are allergic to Elidel Cream or any of its ingredients.
Missed Dose: Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the dose you missed, and use only the next regularly scheduled dose.
Side Effects: See your doctor if an application site reaction is severe or persists for more than 1 week. The most common side effect at the site of application is burning or a feeling of warmth. The burning feeling is usually mild or moderate, occurring in the first 5 days of treatment, and the burning usually clears up in a few days. Other common side effects include headache, and with long-term intermittent use, common cold/stuffy nose, influenza, sore throat, fever, viral infection, and cough. Some people may get herpes skin infections (like cold sores, chicken pox, or shingles), warts, or swollen lymph nodes (glands). Talk to your healthcare professional if you notice any side effects.
Storage: Store in a dry place and protect from light.Do not freeze.
Overdose: If oral ingestion occurs, medical advice should be sought. There has been no experience of overdose with Elidel cream 1%.
More Information: Unless otherwise instructed by your doctor, do not apply any other skin products on the areas treated with Elidel. Avoid sunlight and sun lamps, tanning beds, and treatments with UVA or UVB light. If you need to be outdoors after applying Elidel, wear loose clothing that protects the treated area from the sun. Also, ask your doctor what other type of protection from the sun may be needed.
